Home Training
Should patients not be able to remain for an extended period in either the greater Charlotte, NC or at one of our Affiliate Locations, a home unit training program is available. With the home unit program, the patient is seen by the home office in North Carolina for an initial qEEG (brain mapping) to determine the specific areas of dysfunction, as well as a consult with Dr. Preston about the results. Based on the findings, an individualized neurotherapy training protocol is designed and initiated. In order to see the optimum benefit of training, most patients will need between sixty and eighty hour-long training sessions. When compared to the physical, mental and financial expense for many patients of being away from home for an extended period of time, the home unit training program offers an alternative that is no less clinically effective, while being both more economical and less stressful.
A license and technical assistance agreement is presented to patients so the "know how" specified in the patent is utilized in an appropriate fashion. Depending on the severity of the illness, the training is set up to accommodate the patient's finite level of energy to engage in the learning process. Some patients stay in NC for a couple of days, while others prefer to stay for four days. The patients have found the training process to be easily understood and not overly taxing. The home unit program includes:
1 QEEG (brain mapping) and verbal interpretation by Dr. Preston.
1 hour of the rationale behind neurotherapy.
1 1/2 hours of establishing a patient specific baseline.
1 hour of training on how to prepare electrodes for the sessions.
2-3 hours of training in the use of the neurotherapy instrumentation and on how to run a session, communication of session results via email or fax, as well as how review, monitoring, and ongoing direction of training by Siber Imaging is conducted.
The equipment necessary for this training may be purchased or rented. When at all possible, Siber Imaging will assist patients in reselling their equipment upon completion of training.
Under certain conditions, it may be possible to license a group of individuals (e.g., a support group) to all work off a single unit. This can lead to significant cost savings to all the participants for not only equipment, but also initial charges for remote testing and training. Please contact our office to discuss further information and the potential costs.
If you are a healthcare worker and think the home unit program may be appropriate for one of your patients, or if you think you or a family member are interested in neurotherapy, but are not located near Charlotte, NC or one of our Affiliate locations, please contact us by clicking here or by calling us directly at 704-543-0427.
